The upstairs guestroom is done! At least for now. Someday we will need to refinish all of our wood floors, but for now the carpet is gone and the room has been entirely painted.

Two walls painted and only half the ceiling needs a second coat. Making progress...

Here are before and after shots of the plaster repair work I tried.

Repainted the bookshelves in the upstairs guest room then noticed how dull the rest of the room looked, so I'm in the process of painting the entire room. I picked out an ocean teal color for the walls which really brightens the room up. Will add before and after photos once I'm done.

Added mermaid and crabs that we bought at the Key West Seafood Festival to the remodeled bathroom. Photos at link below.

Just in time for Pints for Pets, Clint's mom painted a gorgeous mural on the side of our garage.

We have yart (yard art)!!! Clint & I found some "flowers" on clearance this evening and "planted" them in the front yard. Check out pics at: http://picasaweb.google.com/xwedel/NewYardArt

Also more progress on the bathroom! Walls, ceiling, and wiring for light fixtures are up. New pics have been added to the link in the last post. Hoping to be done by the end of May. Check back for udpates.

We have progress on the bathroom remodel! The new window is in and framed. I've finally posted some of the pic from the remodel at: http://picasaweb.google.com/xwedel/BathroomRemodel2.

The cast iron bathtub in the upstairs bathroom came out (with a little cajoling from Clint and a sledgehammer) last night. Glass block window arrived broken, so it is going back to Home Depot. The replacement should arrive in 5-10 days and hopefully better packaged this time. Plumber has ordered the new shower tray and will be coming in to do his part when it arrives. I still need to order tile, but we are well underway for a full bath remodel.

The hop trellis is almost complete! We need to buy and bolt up one more 2" x 6" to finish it out. With 3 vines now showing signs of life we are encourage that we may have some hops to harvests this fall. Pics are posted online at: http://picasaweb.google.com/xwedel/HopTrellis/

I was torn between posting this here or in the brewing section, but I suppose this will be a large enough structure in the backyard to count as part of the house.

HOPS are coming up and trellis system is going up!

Below is the plan for trellis system.

We took down the remaining beams in the dining room this weekend. Where possible, we removed the popcorn ceiling. Now the debate is what to do to finish out this room. Thinking of a plaster ceiling with large crown moulding with a metal crown "trough" for a rope light just below. Below is a mocked up photo of what we are thinking.

I started scraping the front porch floor today. I spent nearly two hours and finished maybe two square feet, so it's going to be a long process.

December 27, 2006 - Almost Finished!
I've almost finished the bathroom remodeling project. I put in a slate floor and laid travertine tile with a slate mosaic in the shower. Thanks to Xavier and Michelle who put up the trim on their visit (yes, come visit and we'll put you to work), I only have sealing the floor left to do. Pictures can be found in my photo gallery at: http://picasaweb.google.com/xwedel/BathroomTile_Fall2006

December 26, 2006 - We have Fire! Clint finished installing our wood stove. Guests now marvel at the idea of taking off their coats when they visit. More pictures of our first fire at in Clint's photo gallery at: http://picasaweb.google.com/twedelc/Woodstove
